چکیده
This paper presents a combined experimental-modeling effort to interpret the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical behaviors of freezing soil, where an unconfined, fully saturated clay is frozen due temperature gradient. By leveraging rich experimental data from microCT images and measurements taken during process, we examine not only how growth ice induces volumetric changes soil in specimen but also presence propagation fringe front may evolve anisotropy effective media soil–ice mixture that cannot be otherwise captured phenomenologically isotropic saturation-dependent critical state models for plasticity. The resultant model helpful providing qualitative description affects responses clayey material, provide mean generate more precise predictions heaving ground.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Ductile Fracture Modeling - Theory , Experimental Investigation and Numerical Verification
The fracture initiation in ductile materials is governed by the damaging process along the plastic loading path. A new damage plasticity model for ductile fracture is proposed. Experimental results show that fracture initiation in uncracked ductile solids is sensitive to the hydrostatic pressure and is dependent on the Lode angle. The damage plasticity model is established on a "cylindrical dec...
متن کاملExperimental and Numerical Investigations of Natural Convection in Freezing Water
Thermal convection in a lid cooled cavity with phase change was studied experimentally and numerically. The ow and ice front structures, and their dependence on the ow parameters (Rayleigh number) were investigated. In the experiment, the onset of convection in an initially isothermal uid (water) in a 383838mm plexiglas box, which is instantaneously cooled from isothermal top wall to a temperat...
متن کاملhydrochlorothiazide detection in urine samples by hplc-dad and experimental design dispersive l-l microextraction
hydrochlorothiazide (hct) is a diuretic agent which is shown to be effective in the treatment of hypertension. literature reports have demonstrated that urinary excretion data may be used to assess the bioavailability of various formulations containing this thiazide. also hct consumption by the athletes is one of the drugs which should be regulated by world anti-doping agency (wada), because of...
Deformation and strength anisotropy of calcareous slates under Brazilian tests
Rock anisotropy plays an important role in engineering behavior of rocks. Slates are anisotropic rocks which have long been used for gable roof, floor tiles, borrow materials, and other purposes. The slates studied in this research are calcareous and have a porphyro-lepidoblastic texture. To determine the role of the anisotropy on the tensile strength and fracture pattern, two variables includi...
